Real Dog is a family business.

Our business was born of need to provide quality gear for our own teams of Alaskan Malamutes, now Sled dog supplies make up only a small portion of our business, we supply Police dogs, Bio Security dogs, DOC (NZ) predator dogs, Search & Rescue service dogs, Medical assist search dogs, & ofcourse most importantly the family pooch :) 

We pride ourselves on being harness specialists, all types, all disciplines, all sizes.

All our gear is made onsite by us (Nigel & Rose) .

We have had a passion for Sled dogs for over 30 years & are lucky enough to beable to share our love of our dogs & our experiences with everyone.

Importantly every item we sell has been carefully designed & rigorously tested on our own dogs.

We live in the beautiful area of Maniototo, in Central Otago, South Island,  New Zealand. 

We have a the largest kennel of Alaskan Malamutes in the Southern Hemisphere including only the 3 Canadian Eskimo Dogs in New Zealand, Siberian Husky's & one Kelpie/ Collie cross that we breed, show & most importantly work in harness.

We are always keen to develop new ideas for equipment,  so if you have one to share I am interested :)
